Appearance
Personality Hieronymus, or Hank as he is more commonly know, is laid back and easy going, occasionally too much so, he has been known not to take situations as seriously as he should. He was considered and engineering prodigy from an early age and found many aspects of starship operations easy to pick up, this annoyed his peers and made him seem lazy by comparison, but it was simply that it came easier to him. This compounds his already laid back nature.

He is warm and welcoming to others with a good, if very eccentric and sometimes inappropriately timed sense of humour. It often takes some time knowing a person before he feels comfortable getting close and letting them truly know him until then he will likely maintain the persona he developed in an effort not to be ostracised in his youth.
Family Ken Reynolds – Father (deceased)
Oli Reynolds – Mother (deceased)
Thomas Reynolds – Brother
Background Hieronymus was born in on board the USS Zhukov in 2353, his father was an engineer and his mother was an operations officer on the ship, from as far back as he can remember he was surrounded by tools and schematics, his father would even opt to read technical manuals to him rather than bedtime stories.

When the USS Galaxy was commissioned in 2357 his parents opted to relocated to that vessel to take advantage of the better family facilities on the most advanced ship in the fleet. Even though he was only a toddler Hank found the new environment fascinating and stimulating, once when he was 9 he cut power to an entire deck after he and his elder brother dismantled the families replicator in an effort to improve it.

He was raised on the Galaxy until he turned 13 at which point his father’s ailing health would prompt a move to the Archer IV. Hank found the transition to planetary life a hard one after spending over a decade in space, not to mention the trouble with meeting new school friends, rather than being quiet and introspective he over compensated for his shyness and became something of the class joker.

In 2369 when he was 16 his father died after a long illness, the family was devastated, the boy’s mother taking it hardest of all. She decided staying on a planet where she said goodbye to her husband was too painful opting instead to leave her desk job and apply for a posting on the USS Honshu.

In 2370 his family had gone their separate ways, his brother who had long since completed the academy was assigned a job in the R+D division, his mother was serving on the Honshu and Hank was about to face entering the academy.

To say he took to his studies would be an understatement, he often joked that his parents had already given him 18 years of academy courses and his scores in engineering subjects reflected this, he picked up things much faster than his peers and seemed to be able to take things in his stride easily. This would be a point of contention with both fellow students and teachers who would have preferred him to make more of an effort but his easy going charm and continued role as the class clown prevented him from being disliked.

In other subjects he was less adept, his laid back and humorous still didn’t sit well with his tactical trainers at all and he barely scraped through these areas of the course. In his later years he opted for every engineering and operations module he could, taking the bare minimum in other disciplines.

In 2374 he was in his 3rd year at the Academy while the Dominion War waged and his mother was unfortunately killed on what should have been a fairly routine mission. It was in her memory that would later opt for a career in operations.

He graduated in late 2375 just as the war came to an end, his first assignment would reunite him with his brother at Utopia Planitia when he helped to repair and refit ships damaged in the war.

His first deep space assignment was a 5 year mission aboard the USS Cambridge in 2378, he revelled in being out in the universe again and would eventually rise to be the assistant Ops officer. Hank would then serve on the USS Pluto for just over a year before being reassigned to the USS Peacekeeper.
